Fanny’s Celebrates Pride Month: an ever-growing playlist of Queer Artists!

Proud to celebrate pride!

We at Fanny’s are proud to be Nashville’s most comfortable music store. But we know true comfort transcends beyond our infectious charm (hi Ellen), cozy aesthetic, and is a life-long work in progress. As a woman, a huge part of what brought me comfort upon first walking in to Fanny’s was the representation of women musicians. Where many other stores have walls covered by Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones (ok you get the idea), Fanny’s has photographs, posters and paintings of Memphis Minnie, Bonnie Raitt, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Maybelle Carter! Perhaps the true, most meaningful kind of comfort is the kind that communicates through representation that we belong.

LGBTQIA+ / Queer musicians have long been tragically under-celebrated, retroactively closeted, and under-credited as trendsetters, innovators, and skilled musicians. This pride month, we researched and featured modern and historical queer musicians on our nonprofit, Fanny’s School Of Music’s instagram page. (You can see the whole feature here!)
